NON-RIDING PARTNERS
We understand that not everyone rides, and that’s why non-riding partners and friends are warmly invited to join the adventure! While riders explore the conservancy on horseback, non-riders can enjoy the Simalaha Wildlife Conservancy in other ways.
Our camp offers a serene escape where you can truly reboot and revive your senses. With its peaceful energy and breathtaking landscapes, it’s the perfect place to unwind and disconnect from the world. There are gentle safari options available, walks, biking and boating can all be arranged - otherwise bring some good books and look forward to DNA - the do-nothing activity!
Kindly note that non-riding guests stay on the same basis and are charged the same rate.
What you'll love
Our horses are living The Good Life in the Simalaha! We prioritize the well-being of our horses by embracing the 3 F’s of equine welfare: freedom, friends and forage! Our horses run wild as a herd in the Simalaha Conservancy and come in for grooming, feeding and rides.
Insiders tip
Don’t forget your swimwear! Our eco-pool doubles up as a wildlife hide, ideal for photographers and for spotting rare nocturnal creatures.

We start each day before dawn at Zambian Horseback Safaris, with your choice of tea or coffee and a light breakfast before setting off in search of wildlife and adventure. We watch the sunrise each morning from horseback, a magnificent tradition that we love to share with our guests! Every day will be spent exploring the Simalaha Wilderness on horseback, an area of epic significance – 180,000 km² of raw wilderness – a place to immerse oneself in the vast plains; gently approaching and appreciating huge herds of wildlife, mopane forests, giant and ancient baobab trees, the life-giving Zambezi River and the people that call this land home – Lozi people who go about their day to day lives between the riverbanks and their homesteads, moving their cattle along the Riverbeds and fishing for their families on the river.

For riders, being able to canter into the horizon on land without predators and without holes is an absolute joy. We encourage riders to enjoy the space and to experience the pure riding freedom of the Simalaha. Here, time seems to stretch and slow right down. It's an opportunity to disconnect from responsibilities and routines and to connect with nature.
